Icon2 Switching subwoofer from accord to explorer...No bass?

Ok i recently switched my sound system from my honda accord to my girlfriends ford explorer. Both have after market pioneer head-units. The system consists of kicker 450 watt, a kicker comp 300 rms sub, 4 gauge wiring, and the sub is in a sealed rectangular box. This little sub had great sound quality in my car, it hit all the highs and some lows but overall it just sounded very clean. Once it was put in my girlfriends car it is extremely faint and it no longer hits the high notes just mainly the mid to low notes very faintly. Does anyone have an explanation for this is it just because the explorer has more volume and open air to work with so the sub just isnt powerful enough to hear or what? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

ummm subs should only reproduce the lower frequencies (midbass and lower)...
but i degress. a few questions:
-size of sub?
-does the amp have a lowpass filter?
- if so is it set to at least 100hz ?
- have you played with box placement?
(moving it around in the rear to find best spot. )

You have to remember that the explorer is bigger than the accord. In terms of area trying to pressurise. The bigger vehicle the harder is to get loud with 450 watts rms.

You would think so but i have gotten 8-10" subs to pressurise the available airspace. Also your dealing with an SUV you are sharing the cabin space with the sub.... so the amount of power available should give a nice bump in that car.

Need more info to help the OP out.

I think when the op readjust's and make sure the settings are right he will be happy. To the op is the box prefab or build to specs.

it should be louder in the explorer.....because the subs are not trunked...(close)
explorer open...........

check your wirings for the sub...neg and pos...
box placement...how is it sitting right now...subs facing what direction...

check the headunit..if it has a sub out volume.....

check the amp setting...LP/HP...
