No, subwoofers do not, although you could add one, most amps come with low pass filters, even some HUs have low pass filters in them now. 94

my headunit has four outputs for four speakers. If I want to add a subwoofer, where do I plug it into?

The amplifier...which you apparently don't have...

Subwoofers generally need more power than your headunit can give...

you definitely need to educate yourself before attempting that, or just seek professional help

If I want to add a subwoofer, where do I plug it into?</TD></TR></TABLE> What kind of HU is it? Does it not have RCA outputs on it? to run the sub you will need an amp, and a way to get the signal from you HU to the amp, [normaly done with a set of RCA cables] the RCAs are connected to the RCA outputs, [this is a pre amp signal] of the HU, [some HUs have a dedicated sub output] and run to the amp and connected to the amps RCA inputs, this can also be done using the speaker outputs of the HU, the amp will have to have hi level inputs, [speaker] or you have to use a hi to low level adpt. also called a line level adpt. or LOC, [line output converter].
The size of the amp, [watts] will depend on how much, [loud] sub bass you want, and what the RMS watt handling of the sub is. 94
