Default Sub wont work everytime

K so a JL audio sub and amp came hooked up to my car. But to access another amp in the trunk a removed the sub and box from the trunk. The only wires i disconnected were the two going into the sub box from the amp. When reinstalled the sub would work but would be so faint you had to hold your ear to the box. then one day is worked fine, about a week later is did it again. Now i can never tell if it will play... Help

Sounds like the sub is blown to me, but I could be incorrect. Check your wiring if you know what your doing. As a test, play the music at normal volume, and push in on the sub and see if it plays. If it does, your sub is blown.

If thats the case, your amp may be going into protection.

Your amp is going into protection mode for a reason. Check and make sure the wiring for the sub is secure.

Mabey try and turn down the Gain on your Amplifier see if that does anything.

Well what do you know about amps and how they work?

Protection is turned on for the Amps protection, IE bad circut somewhere, overload,

Gain is the level of power that your amp puts out.

Its possible that your gain is turned all the way up, and when it hits high it generates too much power and instead of shorting itself out, it goes into protection more. I doubt it though
