Default Bad box

Ok so heres the deal would a 150 rms continuous sub powered by a 100 watt amp sound any better if i get a better box. I have a wooden box now that had 2 little holes on both sides of it the holes are around 3 inches in diameter thanks. Btw the sound isnt good at all i get no bass from the one sub or is that the bad thing of having one sub it produces no bass any suggestions? I heard a better box would gimme more bass but i dont wanna spend 112 bucks on a good one from best buy.

Also i have the option to turn on and off the sub in my car from my stereo but the amp light is still green, does that mean that its still on? I wanted to play music while waiting in my car but with the sub off so i dont waste my battery thanks.

What kind of subwoofer is it?

Sounds like your current box was built by a person who thought porting a box, was simply cutting extra holes in it...that is not usually how it works.

Have you simply tried plugging the extra holes or covering them with wood and siliconing the patch from the inside? That might make a world of difference in and of itself.

The head unit switching off the sub, probably just kills the signal(rca) outputs. If the amp is wired to the turn on lead, it will not power off.
