if u are concerned about weight just get a pair or even a single open air 10'' sub. u can mount them almost anywhere and they dont require a box. if u set it up right a pair of them would be more then enough for a crx

[trunk of a car] and for them to sound any good the air space in the trunk needs to be isolated from the pass compartment as best as it can be, not really possible in a hatch back.
dracocrx You have a few options, a single 10" will fit in a very small cabinet, [depending on sub], a spare tire well fiberglass cabinet will take up very little room and not add a lot of weight, can even be made to sit over/into the spare tire, A 10" 200W Bazooka tube, biggest one they have at the moment weighs 25lb, takes up little room and is easily movable, and sound pretty good.
http://www.bassforms.com/ may have something that you can make fit, same with...http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products...ndexTRound.cfm 94

Re: sub box (fcm)
i wish i had pics of the enclosure in my rex. 2 12s fiberglassed in the spare tire well. something like that wouldnt weigh you down to bad if you go with a lighter sub. ie. audioque sd 2 or 2.5s, Re audio re series, ect. the max depth my box sticks out of the spare tire well is mabey 4"...
Edit* also you could run a setup like that with stock electrical w/o a problem.(only around 500wrms for both 12s)
