stupid audio setup in SI..help
Okay so i bought my 99 SI and the previous owner had a headunit and then subs in the back, so whatever i took out the subs....he put the stock SI headunit in the car, just the radio/cd player, no tape part....for some reason only the right front speaker and tweeter work. I looked at the rear speakers behind the seats and they have speaker wire coming from them and not connected to anything...I want to hook up all the speakers to the stock head unit. I dont need the tape part right? the radio/cd head unit is where everything hooks up to right?
okay well i got the front speakers hooked up...but the rear speakers im pretty sure are aftermarket, but that shouldnt matter since they have the same plug and play things right? i looked under the rear seat and there is a plug with nothing hooked up to it, so im guessing i need a plug going from the speakers to hook up into this plug
don't cut the harness!!!!
use some paper clips or really stiff wire(that will fit into the harness plugs)...
solder it to ur speaker wires, and wrap em tightly in eletrical tape, except about 1/4 to a half an inch to shove into the harness..
it should work fine.. and u'll save ur harnness form being cut...

Wait wait wait... What plug is this under the rear seat?? As far as I know, there are no audio plugs under the rear seat...
And yes it matters if they're aftermarket or not... And no, aftermarket speakers do not have "the same plug and play things".
Your descriptions of what is in the car are confusing... Pics would help of said speakers and wires. And plug.

Or you could not be ghetto and spend the $5 on the speaker adapter plugs....

The stock rear speaker wir colors are.....
right rear + - red/yellow
right rear - - brown/white
left rear + - blue/yellow
left rear - - gray/white
You do not have to cut anything, the adapters are the best way, plug and play, but you can also disassemble the oem speaker plug, [open it up and remove the metal terminals and they will fit the aftermarket speaker, [the neg.(-) will have to be "crimped" a little as it will be loose.

Dude thats the worst idea I have ever heard. Dont listen to this guy. Get a speaker harness at a local stereo shop. Their like 7 bucks and let you go from stock to being able to hook up aftermarket speakers. Then you still get to keep the stock plug. Seriously dont use paper clips for anything other than keeping paper together.

psh..
a harness for 7 bucks??
when all it is is plastic, steel/aluminum/tin, and a copper wire...
what are paper clips made out of? steel/aluminum/tin...
its the same exact stuff...
cut paper clip into short lenght, solder, its good to go...
the paper clips are just for the stock harness side, on the speaker side you have to use female dissconnects..
end product with paperclips should look like this:

===================
if u don't want to use paper clips.. u could tin the ends of the wire.. but the wire has to be pretty thin.. if ur running off of stock wiring... its okay cause ur just limited to how small of an awg u can use by the stock wiring...

okay so as i was saying underneath the seat, on each side underneath there is an orange plug with a blue and gray wire coming from the plug. nothing is plugged into each plug on each side. im guessing thats the speaker plugs? what else could it be....
Not trying to be a dick here (well, maybe just a little), but do you even read what people post in here? 2 people (2 experienced installers) have told you that there are no audio plugs under the back seats, yet you continue asking about them.
And as I stated previously, your descriptions of what is in the car are confusing... Pics would help of said speakers and wires. And plug.

You may be right, it may be speaker plugs, but as I said, only if someone has pulled them out, also you say there is a blue and gray wire, is that blue with a yellow stripe and gray with a white strip, [left rear speaker]? Also is it a blue and gray on both sides?
If so, you have the only 99SI with the speaker plugs under the seat with the same color, [solid] wires on both sides I have ever seen or heard about
Can you take a pix and show us the plugs and wires?
None of us here are trying to give you a hard time, but what you are explaining has never come up in any 99SI I have done, and if the colors are solid and the same on both sides I have not seen that on any Honda/Acura and I have been a car audio installer for a long time.

I don't think I remember speaker connectors being orange...
