Thanx for the suggestions,i will have many deterents on the car,I've seen so many GSR's get stolen some friends some fos,but i feel for anyone who looses there ride to a piece of **** scumbagg thief, and the other guy was right, these thieves can get threw all kinds of ****,but a knife isn't a smart move, either call the cops or pull out the heat if its on you own property because they always pack guns these car thiefs, they know theres a chance they may run into the owner, matter fact my friends red GSR got stolen and we found the kids who had it in the middle of newark and as we chase the kid and called the cops,we got no satisfaction and were at thepoint we were gonna hop and and rip the little ********** out of the car and take it back,he wound up pulling an uzy on us and that was it we hid and let him go,because he knew without the heat we would have ripped him out stomped on his face and cut his fingers off, little ***** that he was.So as you can tell i have alot of hostility towards car thieves. And would even consider leaving the computer field to become a pig and bust car thieves.

One of my buddies recently installed a on/off switch to the ecu's power.
Not for theft prevention but to reset his ecu any time he wants.
But this will sure prevent the vehicle from being taken.
(unless they figure the $h!t out or tow it.)

ok if you're scared of breaking the law don't shoot at car theives, but if you have no qualms with it then by all means go for it, just cuz you shoot a guy doesn't mean you kill him and the last thing a theif is going to do is call the cops like "yeah i was stealing this guys car and someone shot me" i mean if you're in the business of breaking the law you, as a rule, don't deal with cops, i'd say shoot em, if not preach nonviolence elsewhere, i got a pager and glock w/ original badges on a type-r so something is working

I agree, but i can't carry a gat around to work, believe me if someone tries it at my house,I'm pullin out the shotgun and blowin there heads off and thats it end of story,i don't even car if i shoot my ride up,as long as the scum doesn't get it,but i would only do that if someone was on my property trying to rob it,then i have the right to protect myself and property. And I'm against violence but I hate car thieves as much as CHILD MOLESTERS AND TERRORISTS.They steal and kill inocent people dickin rides.

How come hondas are so popular to get stolen? Is it because they're easy to steal? or they have high value? or both? Is there anyway to lock the hood without causing too much of an inconvenience for me?

How come?
Because Honda's are hot toys in this time & age of human history. Honda's are all over the (US) damn place & its a playground for theives. And now that Honda's are booming bigtime because of the JDM thing....it doesn't make things any better.

It's easy makin' a few bucks off selling used, new, or even stolen parts for any Honda or Acura. Something tha'ts not traceable is easy to sell. It's easy to move these parts too. Now that JDM crap is the hot thing, it doesn't tone down Honda thefts at all -- makes it even worse/more of a hot item to steal. Especially, everyone who goes for the played Spoon look.

What also sucks, even if you're the type who sports all the knock-off stuff (fake spoon wing, Slipstreams, cf-black hood, etc) you're still prone to getting your car stolen -- theives don't give a **** what you have. Like i was saying above - if its in and sells, they'll steal it and somehow resell it -- your kidding yourself if you think your Honda is safe from thefts if you sport knock-off goods.

People will buy Honda/Acura parts anytime, whether it be hot or not hot. It's royally fucked up, but that's just how it is these days.

- The best thing you can do is somehow mark all of your parts before you install them with some kind of hidden imprint of some sort.
- Hood pins seem to work to keep those fawkers out.
- You can do some trick alarm stuff and put certain painful barriers on your car so that a theif will actually get hurt trying to break into your property.
- DON'T BE LAZY - don't leave loose items in your car, such as a backpack, laptop, or things like that bring it inside your house or wherever. I've had my backpack stolen from my car and it pissed the **** outta me.
- Don't leave your music CD orginals in the car. Make copies and use/leave those in your car, just so that you have a backup of the originals at home.
- get a garage.
**** carports and open driveways - that's a thieves favorite. They can just roll the car out on the street and peace out.

Think about how it would be if you're car got stolen & what items you always leave in your car & what you would miss - besides the car itself.

I've had my car stolen and this is why I'm giving this advice. **** car thieves.

-- bottom line --
If they want it they'll take it, someway or another. So the biggest line of defense you can have is to have FULL coverage insurance, AND, to insure ALL of the valuable property you put into your car.

Hope this clarifies why Honda/Acura's get stolen.

thanks alot for typing that up katman. Do you happen to know what would be a good car alarm for my car? I have an alarm on my car that was installed from acura after i bought the car. not sure if its any good though. How do hood pins work? and i thought you could only get that with carbon fiber hoods?

hmm..
I'm not to keen on which alarm is best. The best alarm is full coverage insurance imo. Hoodpins will work on any hood, metal, carbon fiber, fiber glass - hood pins don't care uuugh..I'm sure you can find an how-to install article on hood-pin installation and how they work. They just lock the hood down, some use actual key locks.

This is wrong. While some ghetto *** thieves might think this way, a claim like this would be a goldmine for a personal inury lawyer and his client. The lawyer will convince the thief to pursue the claim. The risk of going to jail for attempting to steal a car will be worth it for many theives and their lawyers because the amont they could recover is huge. The lawyer will seek to go after you and the deep pockts of your home insurance company if this happened outside your house. Keep in mind that the burden of proof in a civil case will often be in the plaintif's favor. A lawyer will jump on this case because you have clearly violated the law and there is the potential for hundreds of thousands of dollars in a liability settlement. It is not a wise decision to use deadly force to defend property, take my advice, DONT do it!

Also, there is a simple solution to prevent getting towed from your driveway, it is very populr in NYC. It is a 4 foot high iron or steel post that goes about one foot down into a reinforced hole that is cut in the concrete and locked with an industrial padlock. You park your car in front of this post and it prevents towing. When used in conjunction with motion sensitive security lights and a camera or in-house alarm, this can be very effective because a thief wont be able to get anywhere neat the post without being discovered. And get a pager! Alarms do no good if you dont know when they go off. When used in conjunction with a proximity sensor this device can alert you before a thief even touches the car. And if you have a car cover, there is no way a thief can get in or near the car without your knowledge because they will have to remove or cut the cover to disarm the alarm, and since you have a prox. sensor and a pager you are alerted instantly. So I am advising you guys with driveways/carports/garages what security to use. Driveway post, security lights and camera, car cover, and pager with prox. sensor. And this stuff is not expensive. True, some thieves are very determined, but there is no reason for someone to be touching your car in your own driveway without your knowledge.

You made alot of good points that i had to learn the hard way, they got my car all paper work and about a 1000 dollars worth of CD's I've been colecting for years, and there fast as hell, security at my Job showed me the video and gave me pictures of the thiefs coming in riding around and then steeling it.They got the car in about 3 minutes with an alarm and with a ignition Kill.Atleast i got a look at them and the car they came in with,so if it isn't a stolen car also i may be able to find these ***********.

I have a battery disconnect wired into my alarm, if the car is broken into while the alarm is on the actual battery disconnects to all ignition sources, then the alarm goes off still because of the battery back up in the sirens

howabout placing razor blades, hidden under the bumper grill area where they reach up and pull down on the hood cable? that would teach those ***** a lesson or 2 unless they die of bleeding of death.
