Default stereo issues

I have a Dual 4 ohm 12in Type R wired down to 2 ohms paired with the alpine mrp-m1000 amp and an alpine cda-9885 deck. I built a new box for the sub to alpine specs about one month ago. really loud and clean sounding. Over the past couple of days, I noticed that the sub was getting queiter and the speakers were also barely quieter (maybe it was just me). Now the sub sounds like a pair of 6x9s. I work at best buy back in the install bay so I had tools to test. Each voice coil on the sub showed 4 ohms, the amp was getting power, and all of my settings are correct on the deck and amp. I am starting to think that the amp is bad or quite possibly the deck. Any suggestions, comments, and help is appreciated!!! Thanks!

Will try battery. Its an optima yellow top. And I tried different types of media. my aux input for my zune and cds (not burned ones). A buddy of mine is gonna help me switch stuff to his amp and deck and then try my amp and his deck and see if there is a difference. Thanks for the input.

Ok figured it out. I remembered to check all but one setting on the deck. The loudness setting was off. One of those "I am an idiot" times. Sorry to waste everyones time. Thanks for your input though. That setting alone made the difference I was missing. A cup in the cup holder must have held down the button long enough to turn it off. Problem solved. Thanks!
