Stereo curiosity/HELP
I just bought a 96 Integra LS and the radio needed a sceurity code to be turned on. I was wondering if I needed to know the security code to switch to a different head unit or can I just switch them out? Any help would be gr8tly appreciated to this Integra newbie.
if you want to get your current radio to work your going to need the code (contact your dealer w/ your cars VIN# and the serial number of the stereo)..
if you want to get a new head unit and put it in.. you can just pull your stock one out and not have to worry about getting the code on your existing unit unless you want to use it one day when you put your car back to stock, put it back in when you sell the car, or sell it to someone and they need the code..

If you wanna get the code, goto the dealer, bring the vin, ownership and the transfer of ownership paper (to show you bought the car, so this helps your case in saying i need the code for the radio)
If you change to a new deck, no problems.

Today I called around to some of the dealerships and most of them wanted me to come in with ownership papers, but then I finally got through to a lady who gave me the #, all she needed was my VIN. It definitely feels good to have some sound now. Thanks for all the info guys.
