Default Stereo Codes

I just bought a CD deck(thought I was getting a changer) from someone. It was mailed, and I guess he was missinformed. Anyway, I don't think he can get me the VIN from the donar car. I am not sure, but he got it from a friend, and I think he got it from a junk yard. I still need to talk to him and see. Is there a way for me to get the code without the VIN?

There should be a sticker on the deck....should have a number on it.....just take it to the dealer and they should be able to get you a code if that sticker is still there....

There are 3 stickers, one on top with manufacture date, 2 on bottom, one just bar code and the other a whole lot of other things.

If I take it to a dealer, will they not think it was stolen?
