Default Speaker Installation?

I have a single subwoofer box that is ported with a 12inch Kicker Competition installed in it. I have all the wiring and I have an 800watt AMP (brand name is xterminator) that I am trying to install to the factory headunit. I do not have the touch screen with Navi, I have the regular single disc cd player. Any pointers on how to make this possible? I drive a 2011 honda civic si.

Unless amp has high level, [speaker level] inputs. 94

Most modern amps can take speaker level to the RCA's. You need to cut the ends off of a RCA cable and connect the the shields to the head unit ground [not the speaker negative!] and the center leads to the left and right speaker + leads. [Ether the fronts or the rears, I prefer fronts] This is how I connect mine. The other problem is the turn on lead. That's another story.

Converters suck and destroy the sound.

That is a generalization, SQ will depends on the quality of the converter.

An amp the excepts speaker level input has the converter built in, the quality of that converter will depend on the quality of the amp, "modern" or not.

Speaker level signals can be connected to the RCA inputs of any amp, "modern" or not.

Connecting speaker level signal into the RCA inputs of an amp that does not have a converter, [selectable input] will over-saturate the amps input stage. 94

Not true. It was the only way I would do it. Never had a problem. 17 years installing. most amps can take 10+ volts and the impedance is high so even without speakers connected to the deck the deck will never output that much. The big thing with high end head units was 10V out when I was still installing. better S/N ratio and less noise problems.

I have a Sub installed with a cheep amp. Tried the speaker inputs, low output. ran ground to deck case and connect to the RCA ground of amp and the left and right to the speakers +. With amp gain about half it now blends with the OEM speakers.

Is ADS still around. This is how they advised to connect to OEM.
