Default Speaker box for 6x9's

hey guys,

i just installed some 6x9 pioneer TSA 6995's into my del sol.... i cut holes into the rear compartment lids and screwed them down... 300 watt max 80wat nominal

i'm running them off a pioneer 3550MP head unit

the mid's and highs are great, my ears hurt! but the bass is pretty pathetic..

the car is small (duh) and the speakers are real close so i don't need much more power but there's nooo basss.... i listened to similar speakers at the display stand in the store and they had more bass, so i figure it's the lack of a box

i think it's because they're working like pretty much free air's right now..

The magnets are HUGE compared to other 6x9's i've seen/used.. so i don't think that should be a prob..

so yeah here's my Question i was thinking of slapping together a pair of 6x9 boxes stuffin them with some polyfill and removing the Compartmant lids all together and "dropping" them into the remaining holes...

would this help my low end much until I can afford a decent sub/amp combo?
if so, shall i Go sealed? ported? bandpass? remember i don't have A while lot of depth to work with....

hwo about demensions? what would be a decent size to go with?

thanx guys..

Get the pre-made 6x9 boxes for around $30. I doubt there will be a big difference sound wise if you tried to build a ported box. How are you going to get the proper airspace dimensions for a 6x9?

yeah just get premade. i have 6x9 alpine type s's in sealed enclosures and they sound great, never heard a 6x9 give off so much bass before. but now i cant even hear the bass from it, considering i have a 12 inch sub powered by 1200 watts RMS right now. its a damn audiobahn but i got a whole system cheap from a friend. sometime ill switch it out for something a lot better....

that's what i'd like to know.. How much airspace would i need??

the compartment is about 15x8x4 roughly... if i were to flush mount... i suppose i could more more.. i just don't wanna loose much reclining space...

First off, make sure that they are wired correctly. If they're out of phase, they'll cancel each other out in the lower frequencies. Also, make sure the front and backs sealed from each other. No excess holes in your rear deck and no gaps in between the speaker basket and rear deck (use some dense foam to fill that space).

front and back u mean the the front and back of speaker should be sealed from each other?

they should be in phase, i hooked both the black stripped to the black stripped

basically u're sayin turn my rear deck into one big air tight space? sounds like a box to me... just more permanent
