speaker baffles
Hi, I'm new here, but I would say that if it seals off any air leaking around the speaker frame, or stiffens the mounting surface of the speaker, then it would definitely help. It will help improve bass response. Also may want to try to sound deaden your door if you haven't already!
Tinter....do you have stock or aftermarket speakers and are you considering those foam baffles made by XTC? If so, they will degrade the bass performance of your 6.5" speakers. The reason is that the baffles don't give the speaker enough air-space. When a speaker is in an enclosure that is too small, upper and mid bass frequencies are boosted while low bass frequencies are diminished. This usually results in a sound that is too boomy (over-emphasized in the 80-200Hz range).
If you're worried about water damage to your speakers you can use the baffle as a shield. Cut out the back of the baffle so that it is no longer restricting the air-space of the speaker. If you're not interested in protecting the speaker, then it's better not to use it.
