Default Sony HU problem

Well my friend gave me his Sony CDX-M630 because he said it doesnt work...so i thought i'd try and figure out what was wrong with it...I hooked everything up and everything works/lights up...the only problem is that it doesnt play anything...All i can hear from the speakers is static...The radio/cd on the HU works cus the CD track time counts up, but no sound...anyone know what the problem can be?

is this through RCA's or the stock internal amp. The amp is most likely fried. Sony's percentage of replace equipment is huge. I forget what the percent was when i heard it last, something like 40% of their stuff gets returned fucked up.

Your problem is that the HU is a SONY . Never buy sony car audio stuff. ok now that i have gotten that out of the way, I have had the same problem before and it was the HU's amp. My recommendation is to buy an Alpine or a Pioneer HU. They are most definitely the best. Good luck.

It's not that hard to fry a head-unit's internal amp. All you have to do is to ground one of the rcas when the thing's powered. Maybe there's a fuse you could replace?
