solo baric slapping?
Ok I have a L7 12 with kickers 600a1 amp, I hooked it up and good lord its loud, but when it gets very high it seems like it is slapping its self because its moving so damn fast. I have a cap and all the wiring is good. I have never encoutered this before and I know that measly 600 watt amp is not overpowering it. Its in a kicker box also. Anyone have any Idea the cause and fix for this annoying problem.
How new is the sub? Subs are like most other parts for your car ... they need to be broken in properly before you can crank 'em up. Solo Baric's in particular will not sound right until they have broken in and it takes them a little longer than most other subs. We built a box for a L5 12" about four days ago at work and it just today started sounding right. Give some time and take it a little easy on it and you should be fine. If it's not new than you got some other problem. Not real sure there.
Its sbout 2 months old and I had it in a ported box at first and then went to a smaller sealed box. The smaller sealed box is what started it. The box is half filled with polyfill like the building inst. say
Maybe its lead slap. Do the wires running to the vc look like they could be comming in contact with the cone? This would only happen with moderate to high levels of excursion. Try some soft foam around these, or tape them out of the way. See if that helps. If not, kicker has one hell of a warranty.

Try turning down the gain.
