Default sirius setups..

how much did your sirius setup cost you, the plug in play setup..

cuz im lookin to get the sportster by sirius, 99.00 bucks.. then the car kit, 49.99.. then installation 50.00(how easy is it to install one of these to look professional anyways? how many people have it hard wired and how many have it plugged into the cig lighter?) then 10.00 for activation, and 12.99 for service.

sound good to you guys?

but what was your total cost on ur setup?

and how does the antena look on the top(roof) of the car? cuz i know its bigger then XM's antena

Looks fine as far as on the outside, sirius is now 9.99 a month to be more competitive with XM. I am assuming you are going with audiovox for the PNP setup? Audiovox is being replaced by the sirius jammer or some ****. Total cost = 230 usually for most people who get installation and a replacement warranty.

PM me...I can get you a receiver and car or home kit for 50 bucks. You'll be required to prepay for 6 months of subscription though.

Replacing my 1st gen hard wired audiovox setup (which I got for free) with the new pnp2.... should be arriving via UPS in about an hour.

The PNP2 cost me $49.99 + 6 months subscription. (which was half price due to it being my 2nd receiver...I'll be cancelling the first one as soon as the other one is installed) so 106 dollars in total including all shipping.

Edit: If anyone on HT wants in on the 49.99 deal (+6 mos. prepaid sub.) just PM me...I'll give you the promotion codes for buying on Sirius Direct. There are about 5-6 units to choose from and it comes with the tuner, antenna, and one home or car kit at no extra charge.

Don't pay $50 to install this. Do it yourself.

ITR DC2: Where do you get the $9.99? Their website shows $12.99 as it always has.

if you prepay for a year I think it's at 10.99

Otherwise it's 12.99.

If you have a 2nd unit added on...it's 6.99 for any additional.

I'll scan the brochure of the price and post it. The new sirius brochure that i just put up in my store has it listed for $9.99. I think it's a special for new customers or some ****.

But as always, if you prepay it will be cheaper

That's if you prepay for 12 months I believe.

You can also get lifetime service for 499 dollars. But I think that's only for the life of the unit and I wouldn't do it IMO, as new tuners come out with more features, and you can't transfer service from one unit to another I think.

That being said Sirius also has some of the best customer service I've ever seen.

I got the hardwired audiovox car kit over a year ago for free, and the new tuners are so much nicer.

Got my new one yesterday from UPS, the install is easy as hell in comparison to the older models. Built in wireless FM transmitter in the docking station. The antennas these days are sooo damn small too. It fits right into your palm. My original one is about the size of a small computer mouse.

Bingo.. that "lifetime" is the lifetime of the receiver. So even if you buy your receiver from let's say best buy, and you get the warrenty... well if that unit dies within that warrenty period, best buy will replace the receiver, but since you now have a different unit with a different ID, your prepaid subscription goes down the tubes.

Sirius is very good about that sort of thing. I can't imagine them shafting you for something like a device failure.

They have some of the best customer service of a company I've seen yet.

I'm wondering if they'd let you transfer it to an upgraded unit provided the other one was deactivated first.

Edit: Those of you with integras might find some of the pnp kits to be a bitch to install. I couldn't find a goddamn place to mount it for the life of me.

http://www.pro-fit-intl.com carries vehicle specific mounts to solve any of those problems

Doubt it. It's for the lifetime of that 1 unit. If you take the 12.99 into the $499 (if that is the price of the lifetime plan, it would come out to 3.2 years, which is my guess a little shorter than Sirius expects most units to last. Let say yours lasts for 2 1/4 years... if Sirius were to let you transfer it over to another unit, and that one does last 4 or so years, then you just made off with 6 and a quarter years, which is almost double what they're expecting. Granted it might not work out as I"m thinking, but business wise I can see them doing this.

I think people underestimate Sirius' dedication to making their customers happy. My original hardware was sent to me for FREE through the F&F program....(when it used to cost 250 bucks for everything). The unit I had went bad for some reason, and they replaced it at no cost to me, because as she put it.. "we'd hate to lose you over something as simple as a defective unit replacement."
