Default Single Din/ Double Din

I own a 95 DB

I just picked up a pioneer head unit but I am now looking to upgrade.

What is the main difference between a single din and double din?

Also my main question is do they make any removable faceplates for these?

Difference between single & double DIN is the size.

Single DIN decks are approx 2" tall, whereas double DIN decks, are, well, double that...

And yes, single & double DIN decks have detachable faces.

The only difference between a single din and double din is the size. The double is twice as large as the single. Double DIN openings are usually reserved for in-car Navigation units and TV screens because they are larger and therefore can hold a bigger screen.

Detachable face-plates are usually available for both.

Single dins with detachable faceplates (pretty much all of them these days) vary depending on brand and features. Could go $400 for a crazy top of line single din, $50-100 for entry level, and $100 to $200 for upper quality.

Don't mean to thread jack but I have a 98 Dx Coupe and I have an extra din I guess you can call it that. Its near the cup holder, anyway I wanted to put my radio there and leave the stock face up at the regular place and have a double din that way is it possible and will it if there?

EDIT: Just realized this post is a year old not a month old. My bad!

Almost all single DIN radios have detachable faceplates. Not all of the double DINs have detachable faceplates. It seems like most double DIN radios have fixed (not detachable) faceplates. Unless you are going for a double DIN radio with a big LCD display I don't see the point of a double DIN radio.

ok first of all single din are the regular radios the thinner ones the double din are the big ones that take both decks on your dash they look like a 7 inch tv

and they do make detacheble faces for both of these but its more common on the single din
