Default Should i drill it????

So i just got 2 12 Kicker cvrs with the box, but the box is not ported so I feel the speakers dont perform properly, so should i buy a new box that is already ported, drill holes my self, or stay with the box as is. I say this because one of my boys has the same speakers, and we put them in his truck and his was way louder(his box was ported)

not his but this is what i mean, see the port on the side

Mine(no port)

Thanks

Ported boxes will give you more output from the speaker with less power input. They are tuned though, so the size of the port matters. You cannot just drill a couple holes and call it ported. Which amp are you using to run those? Because you need at least 400rms per sub. Which means you need at least 800rms total. The reason it might not be so loud might also be that you aren't running them with enough power. Also truck cabs are a smaller enclosed airspace so the percentage of air that the sub moves in a truck will be larger than in a car. Which means they will be louder in a truck.

if you want a ported box, youre gonna need to make/buy a new one. the dimensions of your current box are for a sealed application. To run that sub in a ported box, you need bw 1.25 to 1.75 ft^3 of internal volume. Sealed allows a much greater range of size, but when you go ported, the port size and box size is much more specific

Have you checked the simple things? Are your speakers wired with the correct phase?

I prefer ported boxes myself.
