Default Shock-proofing the head unit?

My head unit occasionally skips, or pauses whenever I hit a small bump in the road. This happens because my car is pretty stiff. Anyway to prevent this?

i don't think you can really shock proof it. the headunit is as good as it gets already. You can probably make some suspension for it, but it's not worth it and also that because the face of the headunit is fixed mounted onto the DIN that it can't move so any suspension work on it does not work well.

You can probably get one of those Sony decks that have anti-skipping stuff. They work like a charm, but you'd have to pay big bucks for them that it's not a wise route if you just need CD.

With that being said, when can i borrow your dremel? Or drop it by long's house and i'll pick it up someday

actually, ATF kuk here has his deck and it doesn't skip when he goes over bumpy roads, or at least I don't think it did.

It could just be the headunit that is sensitive to shocks.

how old is it?

if your cd player is worth keeping, send it in to get the laser recalibrated. the laser tends to come out of alignment after time due to vibrations, the road or the earth's gravational pull. don't bother with the "cd lens cleaners" they don't work.

otherwise, buy a new cd player.

he has like 500/550 spring rate or something like that, for his suspension. the deck is a 9803 deck.

time for a different deck. booo to low-end alpine

CD lens cleaners, [good ones] do work to keep the lens clean, they can not clean something that is stuck on the lens, they also can't realign a lens, and cheap lens cleaners can knock a lens out of alignment 94
