Default is this safe?

i have a rockford punch 600w amp and i have a kenwood excelon 12" sub available to buy, would if be safe to run a 600w amp into a 300w sub? i mean im not the kind of guy to crank my system.

ok well how is the excelon compared to a type r? i mean i know the type can handle more, but sound quality wise, how is it?

Sound quality will depend on if the enclosure is built to spec for the woofer. What kind of car will this be going into?

I dont know if I would go with a sealed enclosure, it really depends to the type of music u listen to most. If its more rock than rap then i would do a sealed 10' sub. but if its more rap i would do a 12' ported sub. But i guess it all depends on ur taste and how u like to listen to ur music. I have never had experience with a kenwood sub. I did use to own a 12' type-S in a ported enclosure and loved it. Just remember this ported enclosure need less power to be as loud as a sealed enclosure with the same amp and sub combo. hopefully this makes sense.
