Removing Integra Doors
Just wondering if anyone can give me some insight on how to remove my doors completely from the car. Doing a car audio install this weekend and want to hide the wires. The only way I can see getting into the grommet is by removing the doors. Any help would be appreciated.
just checked out that link. I guess I will give it a try. If anyone still has any ideas on how to remove the doors, im sure that would save time either way if its not too big of a pain.
Here are my suggestions..........
1. Why not just run new wire up to the door and then splice into the OEM wire the last foot or so (through the door to the actual speaker)?
2. Why not just drill a new hole (small) in the door, fill it with a grommet and seal it and fish your new speaker wire to your speakers.
3. Cut the OEM speaker wire, attach one end (very tightly) of it to the wire you want fish through (your new thicker wire), and they pull it through the OEM grommet..........this sounds wierd, but I know people have done it.........the stock wiring is like what (22 gauge), you could probaly do this method with up to 16 gauge.........more than that and I don't think you could get it through the grommet that is in place............
Good luck and let us know what happens.

You can run wires through the factory harness. It's a PITA but the doors don't have to be removed.

Thanks for the input. Im gonna be running 16 guage. I want to leave the stock wiring in there if at all possible, so *if* I choose so, I can re-install all of the stock stuff if I were to sell my car. Not too keen about drilling holes in the door and putting a new grommet on. Want to make it look as clean and stock as possible. That is why I want to take off the doors, more room to work, might help get that wire through. Ill keep you posted. Saturday the struggle begins.

ok. I just left from work, took a look at that grommet again. I cant even get my hand back there... its pretty much burried at the end of hte door close to where the fender meets the door. Removing the doors or fender seems like the best idea. Any ideas on how to do that succesffully?
I removed my fenders Sunday to do the same thing. Cut a hole in the rubber wire cover near where it goes into the door. The plug will come out of the body side of the civer. Then fish the wir through and push it through the hole you cut. Drill a hole about an inch below the plug going into the door. Put a grommet in it and run the wire. It worked perfectly for me. Just take your time. If you have any other questions give me a holler.
Ok. How big of a pain was it to remove the fender... I have read that you have to remove the whole front bumper as well. Any truth to this? If at all possible I want to avoid drilling another hole in the door and just use the current grommet. How many bolts to remove that fender and are there any "hidden" bolts I should know about? Thanks for the help.
Mine is a civic so I am not sure about a Teg. I removed the front bumper but I do not know whether It was necessary. I think it did make it easier though because you dont have to worry about scratching the fender and door. There are two bolts under the sideskirt, so they have to be removed. There are three bolts uner the hood, one inside the door and one under the front edge. I don't know if the Teg is the same though. The problem with the current grommet is that there is very little room for error. I have an ex with alot of wiring so there is not as much room as a cx to put new wire through. I have heard of people drilling into the factory plug and pushing the wire through. But I believe all Tegs have Power door locks, power windows, and keyless entry. All of these wires plus the speaker wires run through the plug in turn leaving smaller amounts of room to drill through to add additional wires. This is why i opted to drill another hole and add a grommet. This way there in no chance of screwing up the factory wiring.
The problem is not the room in the grommet, I would find a way to make it fit. The grommet is just unreachable. I looked at it this morning, the door can be taken off by taking 4 bolts off, leaving hte hinges in place on the car. My only question would be how to remove that "pin" that connects the small arm to the door jam. I'm sure the fenders would work, but right now that just sounds like a pain, could end up scratching something. Anyone know how to remove that "pin"?
