Please give me some advice to troubleshoot.

symptoms:
It starts up and then it shuts down right after. When I do have it started with the key, I can push the buttons and pull the key out and the car would stay on most of the time, but sometimes it would make that continous starter scratch sound, and then shut down.

The starter stop working after my battery died because I left my car parked for 30 days. So I replaced the battery, and starter has been screwed up since.

I have gotten the car to start before, when it was already warmed. But during the cold weather, not a chance. I do have a tiny leak in my brake booster, but I don't think that is the cause, because it used to startup fine.

did u do the installation urself or have someone do it?

one thing to tell u is.. take ur ride to circuit city where u live, if u have one, even if they didnt install it, they'll check it for u and see if they can find a problem.. it might be as easy as reseting the unit, but then it could be a wire is switched. and if u want, they can fix it for u, if u pay, but i love circuit city.. there the best

 

Give us more info on the alarm. Make and model?
Are you using the the tach wire for remote start? Or is the remote start tachless?
It sounds like you need to hook up the tach wire so it knows that car is running.

 

Im using an Avital 3300. I think the guy who installed it used my cruise control to run the starter. I don't know what a tach is. I may take it up to best buy or cirtcuit city to have them look at it.

I advise you get it looked at by someone who knows what they are doing.
