Remote Start
Installed a remote start keyless entry on my civic last night. Greatest thing since sliced bread. Its so cold outside but i can sit in my room and start my car and have it nice and toasty when i go out and unlock it before i get there. I would recomend them if you live in cold weather. Dont know of any downsides to them yet but if i do i will post. Oh by the way its a bulldog security remote start keyless entry system. Picked it up from autozone with a gift certificate. Probobly wouldnt have spent cash on it but its worth it.
it was like 100 bucks. A pain to install though splicing into ignition wires with little room to work is not my idea of fun. No wonder the install shop charges like 150-200 to install one.
yea but the shop installs the brain right under the steering column. which can be accessed by thiefs real quick. the remote start feature is pretty much easy to install. gotta tap into the ignition wires. but if you have a 2000 (not sure which year but majority of the newer cars) up vehicle you gotta get a bypass kit for your key.
Not all 2000+ cars are equiped with passlock or similar devices. Also they aren't that hard to splice into when using the proper t taps and spades to plug into the taps. I can easily do a RS with keyless entry on a civic in 45 min or less and that is making it look neat too. Then again I do this every day.

I probobly should have used them wouldve been a whole lot easier.

yea but unless the kit can push the clutch by itself the car would have to not be in gear..
and parking your car without it in gear (manual trans) isnt safe

my car is standard tranny. I park on a really flat spot, so flat that one night i left it in N and didnt pull the ebrake up. Next morning came out and the car was still there, lucky for me. That was really dumb. If i park on a hill i just put it in gear with ebrake and dont use rs.

what wires from the car did you hook up the starter moduel outputs too? I've been searching for an 02 Accord 4dr Ex and have only found the signal source in the door to disarm the car. Looking for a disarm source inside the car. right now the alarm goes off 1/2 the time when I remote start the car. why only half the time, I don't know, but I was told by designtech support that I need to tap into the door wire to disarm the car.

yes that's in the door. the signal has to come into the car somewhere. does anyone know where in the car I can get that signal. There are no solid blue wires coming into the car from the door and I tested the all the wires coming in with no luck. That signal has to be getting to the factory alarm some how.

</TD></TR></TABLE> Yea...... if I'm parked on a steep incline I would leave it in gear also, but then I woulden't be able to use the remote start anyway, [no way to put it into ready mode] but then most of the time I'm parked on a level serface ,as are most people and if you want remote start for a M/T car that is the way you have to go, there will be sometimes that you won't be able to start the car, but that gos for autos also you would never want to start any car if it was inside a closed garage, or inside anyplace

So question:
Could (on a hydro clutch) some how have it to where the the clutch is depressed when the auto start signal is sent and then the engine starts with it still in gear, then when you get in the car take it out of gear and turn a swith, double clutch, etc. to deactivate the pump keeping your clutch depressed.

-matt</TD></TR></TABLE> Sure, nothing is impossible, the impossible takes longer and costs more, a linear accuator could be used to depress the clutch, tripped by the output when running line of the remote start, and the glo plug input could be wired to a limit switch, so it would't crank untill the clutch was depressed, also as a safety you don't wire the clutch override. It would disengage as soon as you step on the brake, just like the remote start does. My Q would be why, it the Ebrake on your car can't keep it from rolling, get it fixed, and unlike the comparison of park in an A/T to putting a M/T in gear. park in a A/T locks the trany, even without the Ebrake the car will not move, on the other hand a M/T in gear, any gear, without the Ebrake it will roll, even forward down hill when in reverse
