Default Relay connection issues...

well, I don't really know anything about this relay, except that its for the alarm that came with my car. A couple of months ago, I found this relay...took off all the wire without know what it does...found out the car doesn't start with it unplugged. So I tried a diff. combination of plugging it back in...and this is how it looks like right now.

Car runs, but sometimes, I don't get power to my cd player everytime the cd wires move. Don't know if this is the problem. Need help on what wire is what and what goes where. Thanks.

Here are some pics....

Without knowing where the wires go or how the relay was hooked up to start with we are not going to be able to give you any advise. What I do know is that if you didn't fry anything by randomly hooking up wires to it then you are VERY lucky!

Trace the wires and get back to us. Take a look at this site, it covers how that SPDT relay works.

My guess here and only a guess from what you stated.

You have the starter wires connected to 87a and 30.

The white and green wires should got to 85 and 86 doesn't matter which one is which.

Depending on which type of alarm you have the wire you have on 87a may need to go on 87.

But its just a guessing game but that's my educated guess.

well, I don't even have the alarm hook up anymore. I'm just trying to found out what wires are what. I'll just look it up in the helms to try and figure it out. Does anyone know if the wires actually connect to something instead of the relay?

If you pulled the wires off the relay, and your car doesn't start, then yes, the wires actually connect to something.

The starter wire in the ignition harness was cut, and the relay installed. The relay reconnects the starter wire when the alarm is disarmed so the car will start. However, with no alarm to close the relay contacts, the starter wire is always cut.

You'll need to disassemble the lower dash, unwrap the tape/loom/whatever and find the starter wire that's cut. Then, reconnect it, and the car will start as normal.

What you need to do is TRACE THE WIRES and tell us where they go or what stock color wires they go too. Not one of those wires looks stock to me.

Unless he connected the starter wires to 87a and 30 which is what I suspect he has done and it's why he has been able to start his car.

I agree that you need to trace those heavy guage black wires back to where they came from. You will probably end up disconnecting and reconnecting these wires back together.

okay, the other two color wires...grey and green seems to be for my alarm. The heavy black ones...haven't trying to see where they lead too. I'll look into them when I'm down there again...pretty soon too, since I just found out my side mirrors don't work.
