Rear speaker mounting solution
I have no rear speakers in my CX, i'm not sure if there ever were speakers, but when I bought the car there were none.
The interior is stripped.
I would like to install rear speakers, but i'm perplexed as to what to do to mount them. I took it to a shop today, and he said that mounting them to nothing would make the entire thing sound like **** and to come back to him when the car is back together.
I'm sure other people have been in my shoes, what did you guys do?

Horrible idea.
Get the factory rear-speaker kit.

If his interior is stripped, then those speaker brackets aren't going to look all that great in the rear, it'll be 'infinite baffle' with exposed wires etc.
I myself would worry more about the front stage SQ than any rear-fill.

ThinkRevolution How "stripped" is your CX, [BTW for us no0bs, what is a CX, MM&Y?] does it include the door panels?
I agree with chrisw85 you should concentrate your time and money on the front stage of your system, even if the door panels are not there, they are not needed for good sound and would have to be removed to install speakers properly, [for best SQ], rear speakers can be added later but are not required.
If you do want to install rear speakers, install a set of mid-range/mid-bass drivers, no tweeters and if possible wire in mono.
Even better, install a set of subs, unless you want to shake the ground you can get very good sub bass from a pair of 8", even a pair of 6" without taking up any space in the pass. compartment.

I was thinking about getting those brackets..
The car is completely stripped but DOES have the front door panels.
What are part numbers that I would need to get both rear brackets and what I need to mount them?
They are 6.5 no? Or can I fit bigger ones?

The point is that you have to seperate the sound wave that's coming off the front of the speaker from the sound wave firing out the back of the speaker. If you don't, you will get all kinds of cancellation. Your 6x9s will sound like 3 inchers.
well the way i'm looking at it, i'm better off with SOMETHING.
The car is so loud as is (road noise) I have to crank up the speakers just to hear anything

Front stage, sound deadening, and sound deadening. Get some front components that can handle about 100w-150w rms and throw some power at them. You'd be surprised how much sound and volume you can get with proper sound deadening and some good but inexpensive components. Think convertibles, like the S2k, lots of road noise i'm sure more than youre stripped interior hatch. The front doors and the rear wheel wells make the biggest contributer to road noise so thats what I'd deaden on your hatch. Something is better than nothing, even if it is only 45mil butyl rubber stuff.
