rca's - front/rear

rca's - front/rear
i have a 5 channel sony amp and all my door speakers are connected to the amp. I noticed this is what happens:
if i unplugged the front rca's from the amp....only the rear speakers work
but if i unplug the rear rca's from the amp....all 4 speakers (front and rear) still work
is that how it is suppose to be? or is something wrong?

</TD></TR></TABLE> Is there not a switch on the amp that says input select, I know that Alpine made an amp that input select was automatic ,I don't know of any others, try this, fade front to rear, does it work? if so, the switching is automatic, if not, you have a problem, what inputs on the amp are the front RCAs plugged into? on some amps there is a switch to select how the 5th ch. gets its sig. ext. with a set of RCAs or internally, if switched to internal and front RCAs are plugged into 5th ch. i dont think there is an input switch....but the fader from rear to front works and same with the balance...left to right
its the sony 5 channel amp. i have one set of rca's to the front one set to the rear and the last set of rca's to the sub channel
