so i get in my car and plug my ipod in, wait for the bass to kick in, it never does. i go to the trunk and look at the amp, the tips of the rca's are literally broken off in the female part of the connector on the amp. could anything electrical have caused that or would something have to have smashed into it?

 

smashed into it. Either something in the trunk hit it and sheared them off, or you had the amp laying free to slide around and jar itself into something.
