Radio Help
I just got a 95 Honda Civic. The radio is a Sony CDXGT100. This is an old radio that I had. When I hook everything up nothing works. Checked the all the fuses they were all good. Checked for power after the PnP harness. Power is working fine, switched and constant. Double checked the ground, good. Researched here and on the net. Someone tried to hook up the amp or ant wire to the Orange/White strip cable at end of PnP harness. Did this and the radio worked. Great, happy, till later that night went to go to grandfathers house turned the lights on and radio cut off? The radio only works when the lights are off. Searched and cant find what to do next. Any help would be great.
Sounds like you have your ground wired incorrectly. Your parking lights rest at ground and go to 12volts when you turn on the switch. So when your parking lights are off the wire is suppling ground to your radio which in turn makes it power up. When you turn your lights on they go to 12volts which in turn makes your radio loose its ground source and it turns off. So basically you have the ground from your radio wired to the parking light circuit. Whether it be the PnP harness is wrong or the OEM harness has been chopped and rewired wrong, you need to simply take the black wire coming from your radio harness and ground it to metal.
