Radar Install Question - Advice needed
I was looking for the best place to install this into my car (99 si) and came across the the head rest for my passanger side. I noticed that the depth of the padding for this is exactly the same as the length of the v1 (radar I have on its way), or about 4.5-5 inches. I figured this would be perfect cause it places the detector right in the center of the car (basically where your line of sight is - so it couldn't be any better).
My only problem with installing it here and running a display to my front console is will a passangers head block the front radar? I'm assuming that it would obviously obstruct it, but would it be the same as having the detector behind a sheet of metal? Also, would the padding on the sides block the radar from detecting left and right (not that these directions matter all that much)?
Good idea/bad idea? any advice or other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Only other thing I can think of is somewhere up in the sunroof (but then i think the frame of the car will obstruct it even more).
Oh yea... reason I'm concealing it is because they are illegal in VA, and also I don't wanna have to worry about it getting stolen. I plan to put a kill switch on it for if i ever got pulled over using it. I doubt the cop would see it in the specified location or even think to look there.
Thanks guys.
P.S. anyone have helpful hints on installs or runthroughs for civics (or any car for that matter)?
