Default Radar Detector is it Detectable?

Is a Radar Detector detectable like if your driving down there interstate can I cop detect that you are using a Radar Detector? Like I got this idea from someone and they had it mounted in their dash. So that way it wont said out for a cop to see. So Im wondering can they detect it even if it isnt somewhere where they can see it. I know I just made a question pretty much into a story but I have a hard time explaining things. Any help info. THanks.

some radar detectors give off a raditon that can be detected.. but if radar detectors aren't illegal in your state, then don't worry about it. I have a valentine 1 and i live in CT, i haven't been pulled over since i've had it, and its the best i have. They even say in the directions that lesser brands will set them off, and its true. I have a radio shack one that if i plug them in near eachother, the v1 goes off. So yes some can be detected, but if there not illegal, don't worry about it.

well, if you get a valentine 1, they aren't detectable. And V1 has things for hideaway kits, and special little things that mount near your steering wheel so only you can see it. I would say if you really wanted one, to get the V1, it would be your best bet. I love mine, its saved me a few times.

LOL.... You might be able to find a used one somewhere for "cheap", but they're generally not that inexpensive to begin with.

But to answer your original question, if a unit has VG2, it will be virtually undetectable. Most of the better units out there (V1, Passport 8500) have that feature.

I'm in virginia, and have a pasport 8500 x50. havn't been caught yet. saved me tons of times. but to answer your question, state troopers here have radar detector-detectors in their cars. it has a constant tone, and when you pass by them, the tone has a dopplar effect. but if you have a V1 or passport, they dont give off a signal

VG2 is the technology the police use to detect radar detectors. Almost all the radar detectors out now are undetectable by VG2. They will advertise this feature on the packaging. But like as said before if radar detectors are not illegal in your state then who cares. Unless you are trying to use one in a commercial vehical in which case its almost always illegal. These guys here make a radar scrambler. I have not personally used them but Im curious to see how effective they are.

v1's and escort 8500 are on ebay. Be aware though, that you can only buy v1 from them. no stores have them.

JUNK JUNK JUNK
I cant believe those fools are still in business!

And to clarify for all of you there is NO radar detector out to this date that is completely undetectable. I think The new pasport has a feature so that when it detects VGII it will give a warning and shut right off.

If you wanna know whats up and dont wanna here a bunch of BS go to http://www.radartest.com/

Although, I say my V1 is better
