Default Radar Detector

Hey guys... I have a quick question that maybe someone can help me out with. Im looking for a radar detector right now... but do they pick up the signal even though a cop does not shoot the laser gun at you? Or when I drive near a cop car, would the detector go off? Because not all people get caught by a cop shooting a laser at you. Thanks for your info.

If the cop is using laser, you are probably screwed.

Detectors detect stray radio waves from cars in front of you. This is how you are warned. Laser has a much smaller dispersion, so generally if you get a laser indication you were probably hit directly.

the bad thing is when you slam on your breaks after your detctor detects a laser band its too late because its not a continous stream and it wont pick up the signal. what you should go for is the K40 radar jammer alot of money but they guarentee for you to be ticket free for the rest of your cars life. but thats too much $ for me im a proud owner of a ESCORT passport 8500 and it works wonders not a ticket yet.
