Default Radar Detector Position...

If my radar detector is on top of my clock in my 94 gsr and the windsheild wiper is right infront of it, would it block the radar detector from reading stuff???

Yes it will. You need to move your radar a little bit higher OR move it next to your rearview mirror.

the higher it's placed on your window shield the better the range.

I have mine mounted on the top of the dash, above the cluster, right in front of the steering wheel. it's just high ehough that the wipers don't interfere with it. I ran the power wire down between the dash and the cluster cover and hard wired it into the lighter. I used industrial grade velcro to mount the detector to the dash. works great!

I have my BEL to the left of my rear view. I was wondering if anyone thinks that I could hard wire it to my map lights????

are the map lights controlled by the acc postion on the ignition switch? if so, then I'd say yes you could hardwire them. if the lights can be turned on with no key in the ignition then yes you could, but the detector would have to be turned off/on manually as the power would always be there.

should handle the draw from the detector with no problems. I think the amp draw from the detector is something like 300ma... hardly anything at all. double check if you still have your paperwork from your detector. good luck.

if they are constant, remember you'll have to have to turn it on/of manually. PITA if you ask me.

if you're feeling energetic, you could always hardwire it to the back of the lighter and run the wire up the piller and into the roof. drill a small hole in the headliner close to the detector and you'll have a great setup. take that back...don't drill a hole. just run it out from the headliner from the edge close to the detector.

consider relocating it to the top of the instrument panel. works great in that location, too.
