Default Quick Radio connection question

When I was installing my deck, the wire for the radio broke. I was just wondering if I needed to get a new piece or not. The wire that broke was really thin and before I took the old radio out, it got terrible reception. Do you think the problem with the reception was this wire? It was too long and therefore coiled up in the pice that came off.

Sorry if you do not understand what I am saying. Here are some pics.

That's your antenna wire, so yes it affects yourreception. You may be able to splice another connector on there. If not then you will need a new antenna.

I was afraid i might have to get new antenna. Could i find a end at Radio shack? I do not think I can reuse that one and i do not know how it connects in that tip.

go to circuit city or best buy and grab any Metra 40-XX10 part, for example a Metra 40-GM10. The end plug on this is aftermarket size, and you can cut the GM plug off the other side. Strip the outside layer well back, and the inner layer half way back, do the same to your factory side, and wire it up. I solder the inside wires together first, put a nice layer of electrical tape over that connection, try to use the shielding from both ends to cover the electrical tape and just drip enough solder over them to keep them together. Tape all up and you're good to go
