Quick Question on fuses
ok well heres the deal im running a 920w kenwood 2ch bridged to 2 12" kicker comps (old school round ones) and they are at 8ohms a piece and i have it wired down to 4 ohms and well i was at a car show type deal and i decided to see what my subs can do so i cranked it up and blew my 40 amp fuse on the actual amp not inline. i dont know how i did it cuz thats a big *** fuse. and i really dont wanna worry about blowin fuses so is there anything that i can do to kinda prevent it even though i cant actually stop it from happenin just make the fuses last longer.
I wouldn't worry about it, 40 isn't that big of a fuse (as far as sub amps go). If you're railing your system like that it just pulled too much for what the amplifier was cool with and popped the fuse. put another one in and don't listen to it that loud.
If you want more power go with a bigger amplifier and bigger power wire. Don't just put a bigger fuse in there, it's 40 because more than 40 amps will probably catch the amplifier on fire

i dont know about catchin on fire its fan cooled but o well and im thinking around going with a 8ga power wire and using an inline fuse. is that good?
Are they SVC subs?Just wonderin nothin to do with it blowing fuses.
Whats your electrical setup, usually when ur amp blows its fuses it not getting enough amperage?

im pretty sure they are single voice coils and its a 12ga power and ground wires. and they are run pretty strange ill see if maby i could snap a pic of where they go to after the battery. no i didnt install that part it was on there when i bought it so i figured it worked so why not. and 12ga speaker wire and its bridged. i think the fuse just blew cuz i had it cranked. i put a 25 in there for a day and i destroyed that later but im getting some more 40's
When i say electrical i mean,Alternator and Battery and what not.
I would at least go with a 4ga power wire kit.
I personally have a 2ga power wire from front to back.
I use 12ga for my speakers thats about it.
Also is the 12ga power wire fused close to the battery?

LOL, 12ga power and ground for a 920W amp, if it is a 920W amp you would need at least a 4ga power and ground, but then again if the amp only has a 40A fuse its not a 920W amp unless that is max power, maybe, with a 40A fuse it's a lot closer to 300W RMS. and as the 12" Kicker comps where 300W continues you are underpowering the subs by about 1/2 and that means you are probably overdriving the amp into "clipping". and that is not good for the subs or the amp and probably why the fuse went, also a lack of current is not helping, even a 300W amp needs an 8ga power and ground.
What is the model number of the amp?
94
