Question about a head unit
Ok, so I'm going to buy a brand new head unit, and I'm wondering if you guys would know which one would go into my car(1992 EG hatch) that will flush mount on the dash and not stick out? Or, does anyone have an after market one for sale that flush mounts and works that you want to sell? Let me know, thanks.
I hate not having a rotary **** on my headunits, is that what he's considering not flush?
because i know they make installation kits that allow your headunit to be set in flush, rather than stick out.

A 92 Civic does not need a kit, it comes with standard DIN radio "opening", mounting depth is not an issue, [more then 8"] so what "sticks out" is what is past the HUs sleeve, [face plate] and that depends on the HU you pick.
I prefer Alpine HUs. 94

I really dig the Alpine iDA-X305S, i recommend it if you just play mp3s.
Kenwood came out with a unit based off of this one recently and its really nice as well.

was wondering, are any of the new HU's pushing out 60watts x 4? with a rms higher then 22w, and that is also pre-amped? has a separate low pass and high? built in 5 channel eq? and plays wma/mp3.
was trying to see if i can get something new, or am i left with just finding a used alpine?

you'll probably NEVER find a headunit that has more than that. your best bet is to buy a good head unit with all the features you want, and buy an external amp.
the new alpine stuff tends to be fairly expensive compared to others. i keep using the kenwood kdc-x794 as a prime example. 199 bucks and you get all the eq you're asking for, usb/ipod, high pass f&r, low pass sub (and all x-over points are fairly adjustable, most mid priced alpines are like 80, 100, 120). plus the generic processor built in is fun to play with. great starting point for a mild build. pair that with a nice 75w 4channel or 2channel (depending on your setup), and you've got all the power and adjustment that most will need.
no...they were still only 45/50x4 and that still only meant 16-22w RMS. and they had no issues with burned or MP3 cds. unless you're talking about the 7949, and that had no internal amp and did not play buned CDs, but it was also released in like 1997
hmm... don't remember.... but for some reason i remember alpine had a 70x4 hu, but that was back in the day. of course i could be mistaken.
That would be wrong, the most powerful Alpine HU is the CDA-7894/93, rated @ 60Wx4, [26W RMSx4 into 4 ohms], I have one, they also made the CDA 7995, [pre-amp output only] 94
