Is there an in dash unit for Sirius?
I am spending a lot of time driving and was thinking about getting Sirius. Is there an in dash head unit that will recieve Sirius and of course play cd's/mp3's?
Thanks
Thanks
Of course! Most Kenwoods are Sirius ready, and the newer Alpines are Sat Radio Ready (will accept XM & Sirius tuners)....
You then just need the appropriate tuner and adapter to receive sat radio..

What does the adapter adapt?
Can I get one of these head units that is sat ready and it just hooks up like any head unit, but has the extra antenna and then I buy service from Sirius?
Thanks

Okay. To answer your second question first, there aren't any decks with tuners built in, so you can just plug in an antenna and receive sat radio.
You need the tuner box for the brand deck you have...
Kindof hard to explain, and it's almost quittin' time... I'll post links later....
For your first question, the "adapter" I spoke of is sortof misleading... On the back of your deck, there's an input jack, originally designed for a cd changer. In most cases, you can get a

Eclipse has some that are Sirius-ready, too - the box is generally an additional $100 for any brand of h/u.
One thing to think of is that if you go that route, you lose the ability to use the Sirius in a home adaptor or box for non-car useage. That's why I'm thinking of going with a non-Sirius ready h/u, then adding to it, so that I can listen to Howard at home as well.

So if I am understanding you guys, there are two options. One is get the box and attach it to my existin head unit. The second choice is a head unit that is Sirius ready. I have thought about not being able to use Sirius in the house if I have a dedicated head unit, but I dont want one of those boxes mounted on top of my dash, they are fugly. Do any of you guys have pics of boxes mounted in ways that aren't ugly?
Thanks

Might want to check out Sirius' site - did a little digging yesterday. What yo can do is just get a home unit as well - costs an add'l $6.99 a month, in addition to the equipment. So, it's not that much more to get exactly what you want, and not have to deal with a control unit cluttering up your console.
I'm a cheap ****, which is why I'm thinking of the control box (and I hate the look of the new Eclipses h/us).

With the tuner box in those places how do you change the station?
Is Eclipse a brand of tuner/head unit, I am not familiar with them?

How do you do that through the Honda radio?
I found the in car units Sirius is selling. They all seem to be 4 channel radios, how does this work with the 6 speakers in the ep3? I dont need to improve sound quality, I just dont want to give any up.
Again, thanks for the input guys.

Make sure an adpt. is available for your car with the radio it came with.
The other possibility is through a FM modulator, although that would be giving up SQ.
