Pyramid power wire??
Hi! Does anyone here ever used Pyramid power wire? Curious to know if really good to power any amp on the market? Are those wire true AWG copper? Thinking about get those power wire but need it good for the money.
having worked at shops, the whole thing about copper wiring is Most of the time name brand hype, but thats not always true, sometimes i do see higher quality with some brands. For ex.. I used to work for a shop that sold RF, a 8 awg rockford kit is about 50 bucks, also you can go to walmart and for less than half that price, get an 8 awg wiring kit made by scosche, quality wise, they both have the same flexibility, and are very comparable, honestly i do not see a difference in quality, just some name brand hype.
But then there are other situations, Also i've sold JL audio before, their amp kits are higher quality, the ground wire is braided, the leads are tinned copper, etc etc..
Pyramid? - just like any set of cheap 20 dollar tweeters, most are made by the same manufacturer and a companies brand is just stamped onto the insulation. This is the same for alot of wiring by cheaper brand companies.. A few years back i bought an 1/0 gauge kit made by Qpower i think (probably made by the same exact company as this pyramid kit) and the qpower kit was like 60 bucks, pretty cheap considering it came with 50ft of 16 awg speaker wire as well, but it surely sufficed.. Although my friend had knukoncepts 2 awg in his truck, and our wires looked about the same diameter (copper wise).
Anyways i know i've made this short answer very long, but if you can get your hands on some before you purchase it, you can actually get a pair of calipers, measure the diameter of an individual strand, and (this sucks) count the amount of strands, and there are online wire awg calcaltors where you can enter in the individual strand gauge was well and the number of strands, and it will tell you a true AWG size...

UHmm, I think i know what you mean but i always feel safer with brands name because i feel more comfortable with they hard work on making the products. I don't like buying too many cheap products because it don't last long. I don't know if Pyramid are good as RF or Kicker but i feel it isn't that great. You mention something about not seeing different in qaulity but i think it matter because cheap wire might not be able to feed the amp sufficient electrical. They might be some electrical lost or drop. Not too certain but still figuring it out.
I have use Knu products and yes it great but it truly very cheap because it isn't 100 % copper wire. It mix with cheap alluminum alloy and copper. That why it say it thicker. No offend on Knu wire but great on the budget.
I guess that those Pyramid isn't that great. Must be made from 3 world and they label it as PYramid. My money will go into something else, perhap Monster wire. Those wire see to carry and handle heavy electrical load.
Well then you kinda had the answer to your own question all along. In the audio world, Pyramid is probably one of the worst brands you could ever buy, period. I mean come on, you can get there 10" subs for $7.99 from discounters. When it comes to wiring, copper is copper, yes some companies may add a cheap filler material, i've never seen aluminum in copper wiring, but it is possible. I deal with wiring alot, i'm an electronics engineer, thats my job.. Personally, if you can afford it, i would go all Streetwires.. thats always been a favorite brand of mine since i first got into car audio, but i never sucked up and bought it. Just as long as the wire you buy is Oxygen free, the strands aren't broken up inside the wire, and the stranding isn't too small, you should be fine. Sometimes when you purchase wiring it will give you the strand count, ex. on my desk i have some #6 sitting here, its 133/27 count wire, meaning 133 strands of #27 copper, its pretty flexible and when you bend the wire over, your not going to break the strands inside of the insulator.
Just a tip, i was looking for some 1/0 gauge wire yesterday, i found a 50ft spool of kicker wire on ebay for 150 shipped, and a 50ft spool of knu on ebay for 80 shipped, so if you wanna avoid buying a kit, you can probably get a spool of whatever size you need on ebay relatively cheap and agu fuse holders are like 1.99 online, they are really cheap. Although r&d lab time into a product is very important to and makes that price go up so with all those things considered, i would go with a name brand conductor, enough to get out of the "cheap" range..

I'm going to buy a spool of wiring but i don't want cheap wiring because i feel i might experience some electrical issuse. I want a wiring that can handle the electrical load and not lost power from the amp otherwise, it might just cut off on me on heavy duty bass. Also, i notice there some wiring gauge strands can break up so easily, and tell me that probably not good. Not to sure. I'm not even interested buying cheap AGU fuse holder or fuse because that probably even worst thing to install. I had some cheap fuse holder that cannot even hold a fuse properly. Had issuse with the it but now I'm doing my best to stay with high popular brands name. I will still keep some of the cheap products, just in case in it for something else.
