i had this cd deck (sony cdx-ca700x) installed for many years and there was no problems at all except for an occasional error if the disc is very dusty or a scratch mark.

the last 2 days, i noticed something strange. if i was listening to a song and i pressed "off" to temporarily stop the playing and when i press "source" to play it, it would keep attempting to play by making some spinning sound. i tried changing track, but it was only spinning and wouldn't play. then it would display "error" on the lcd. after i ejected the cd and re-insert it, it's fine. once i stop the track and replay it, it does that again. this happens also when i turned off the car and back on, not only if i press "off" on the cd deck. btw, this happened on more than 1 disc.

anyone knows if the deck is going or something wrong? i haven't tried cleaning the conenctors bc i didnt think it would be a problem there. any ideas? thanks a lot!

 

lazer assembly is gone goofy...that sthe nasty whirring sound you hear.
I would say its prob a good time to start looking at decks.

 

the sound i hear is not a constant spinning sound. each time, it only makes that sound for a few seconds, stops for a few seconds and does it repeatedly. i think it does that for a few times then the "error" message appears.
