Default ported box

well i had a question about ported boxes. Right now I am running 2 12w3v2-d4s in a prowedge box JL made. Its this right here: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...d=314
As of now, I like the sound quality, the hit is clean, but I want a little bit more boom. So I was thinking of getting a ported box. How much more louder/harder will the hit be and how much sound quality am i gonna lose? I'm thinking that the Prowedge box is too small for the potential of the w3s.. any input?

ported box will be louder but you will loose some of the clean hitting bass, and also the bigger the ported box the louder it will get, the smaller the ported box the more clean it will sound.
so if you want both look at the min and the max ported box specs from jl and choose what size box you would like

You can gain 3-4 dB with a ported box, the f3 point of the 12W3v2-D4 in a sealed box is 41.3Hz and 31.7Hz in the recommended "slot vent" box, [one sub] here are the recommended specs for the box(s)... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...id=12

This is JLs HO, [high output] box for 2x12W3v2-D4... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...d=298 they work very well, here is more info on it... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...id=20

I had that JL H.O. box with 2 12w6v2s in it and it sounded really nice.Only install i had them in so cant compare it.
But now i have a 15XXX in a ported box tuned to 37hz and its just as loud with almost half the surface area and the same power.
I would def. go with a bigger ported box if you have the room.Itll def. be louder to the ear by far.Good Luck.
