Plexiglass subwoofer pros and cons?
I was thinking about making a full plexiglass subwoofer box for my car but before I do I just have a few questions.
1.What's the sound difference between plexiglass and fiberboard subwoofers?
2.What's the weight difference between plexiglass and fiberboard subwoofers?
3.How thick should the plexiglass be for a 600w rms 10" woofer?

Speakers will always sound better mounted to wood then any other material.
Plexiglass and MDF are pretty close in weight.
5/8"-3/4" min. [w/bracing].
Although more expensive Lexan is a better product, you can easly get away with properly braced 1/2" Lexan 94

the only problem i have with going 100% plexi is its gonna look really bad at the edges. you really have to use some type of sealant around it when mating plexi to plexi to keep it air tight, which just doesnt look right. I think a much better option, both cosmetically and acoustically, would be to make the box out of wood, and maybe just make the baffle out of plexi if youre dead set on using it
I might just use MDF but I have a woofer with a red basket and chrome magnet plate that looks really nice and I think it would be a shame to hide that in a MDF box.
I could point the basket out of the box but I don't like how that looks and it would be awkward sticking out like that.
So I was thinking about making a clear, rectangular box that is bandpass and then turn it sideways so you can see the back of the woofer.
It's hard to explain but it looks great in my mind.
Plus my brother installs bullet proof glass in businesses so it would be easy to get a hold of lexan.

Ditto the above^^^
If your making a band-pass box, just make it out of MDF with a removable Lexan side, got to be a way to access the sub anyway, removable plate may just as well be Lexan. 94
