Default Please Help, How do I install a Capacitor?

The reason why I ask is because, even tho i have one my lights still dims and voltage still drops when bass hits... =/

Here's my setup if it matters any:

Pioneer AVXP7300DVD
RF 1000a2 Powering 1 12" HX2 Sub
RF 800a4 Powering Boston Acoustic 6x9 and 6.5^3 Component System
RF 1 Farad Capacitor
Optima Yellow Top
Stock Alternator, At idle 12.5-13 volts charging, and above 2500 rpm 14 volts.

Since I've made a post in this forum, I would like to know also, if I was to upgrade my alternator, will my charging be greater at idle? and how much more of a gain will i get if it's above 2500 rpm?

Last but not least is it worth getting a new alternator? especially one that is rated 35 amps more over stock?

Thanks for the help

To hook the cap up, Just put it Inline w/your power wire from batter to your amp, and ground it also. You most likely have it correct, it is simply not enough for your setup. 1 farad caps do very little *rated for 1000 watt systems, they say, and probably actually could only help systems of 400 true wats* It would be to your advantage to upgrade your alternator. IF you are satisfied right now, just wait til you fry your stock one, and get it rebuilt w/better internals, or then buy a larger output one.

It is always a good idea to upgrade your alternator when you have a system over about 400-500 watts. Most people always upgrade the three pieces backward, i.e. capacitor then the battery and then the alternator. In most cases if you would have upgraded the alternator first you may have never needed to upgrade the battery or use a cap. As for the install, the previously mentioned install process is correct.
