Please don't say my Radio is Dead????
Alright HT members please help me out. A couple of day ago my friend put a car charger in the cigarette lighter and when she pulled it out the radio went dead. Now I check the head unit pulgs and those looked fine. I checked the radio fuse and saw that was fine. What else can it be??? I get the feeling the radio could have shorted out or something....but I'd rather check everything before I come to that conclusion. If you any idea please let me know. Thanks!

Well, there is not to much to check. If the unit is not even powering on then I would confine your efforts to the power, ground and remote lead of the unit. You'll need a multimeter to test these three for correct operation. If it happens that your ground, remote and battery all test out fine then you likely fried something within the radio. That would surprise me though since you said your fuse was fine.

Which radio fuse did you check? the fuse on the back of the deck or the fuse in the fuse box check them both and if your cig lighter is still working those are usually ran off the same fuse so if thats working and your deck isn't someone didn't know how to wire and wired your deck wrong and now its screwed

Check the courtesy fuse(dome, lighter, ect) thats most likely the problem; use a multi-meter or test light, don't trust your eyes sometimes the break in the fuse is too small to see. check both the fuse in the car and under the hood.

Hey thanks alot guys....Dumb me I didn't check under the hood
so it was the cig fuse...I had no idea the radio ran of the same one. Oh well I changed it up and now it works fine. Thanks!

Always check the fuse.
I can't count how many times I've had customers think they've blown something when its just the fuse.
