Default Phoenix Gold

Hey does any one have any input on Phoenix Gold amps? I am looking at gettin the Ti500.4 and Ti600.2. The Ti 600.2 will do 600 when bridged at 4 ohms, but my sub is at 2 ohms. wha tdo you think the wattage would be at 2 ohms?

Well the normal rule of thumb is 4 ohms = x, 2 ohms = 2x, 1 ohm = 4x. Power should be close to double when you half the impedence.

To tell you the truth I have never heard a phoenix Gold amp. None of my friends have them. Maybe there is a reason for that but again I havn't heard one

Cool thanks for the Info. As far as Phoenix gold amps they are some of the nicest desigened amps i have seen in my years. I just cound never afford then until now. They are along the lines of PPI ( before it was bought buy dei) and Zapco.

If they amp does not list 2 ohm power, it may not be stable at 2 ohms.

Phoenix Gold does make some of the nicest amps and they are based here in Oregon. A lot of what they do is more for looks then functionality. But they are still very well designed amplifiers. Just like every other manufacturer they do build budget amplifiers that I would recommend staying away from.

I have had a Phoenix amp for about a year, and so has my brother. No problems at all, except for a few blown fuses. Definitely go with it.

Hey Dingas (sweet name) What are you running with the phoenix's? Do the give as much power as they say they do? Do they get really hot? What impedence are you running them at?

I havn't ever talked with an owner of one, tell me more about what you think of the amp. Which one is it?

The one my brother has is: QX900, ID is the model. Its rated 1100wrms@2ohms. It gives out a little more power than its rated at. Hes running 2 audiobahn AWT10x speakers with it. He says it never gets hot at all.

The one I have is a tantrum series, 300 watt amp@4ohms. I am running 1, 15inch kicker XPL. If I have it cranked for about 30 minutes, it will get 'warm', but never too warm to not touch. Mine is mounted under my front passenger seat, so its not like the air moves much around there.

My pheonix gold amps get pretty hot, enough to burn you skin after a while. I have a 2500 and a 4300, the 2500 is powering 3 JL 8w6's, and the 4300 is powering 4 mb quarts. I have an Alpine 79xx something deck. The amps sound great, especially on the mb's going from deck power to amp power. When you open the box they have a sheet telling you how much power them amp you bought is putting out. Mine were actualy putting out more than they were rated for, maybe that sheet will tell you how the amp performed at other impedence levels.

The only thing is in hindsight i wouldn't have spent $450 on each amp. I will never spend that much money on stereo equipment again.
