Default Parking Light Output Question

Im installing an alarm on a 93 civic dx coupe. I am wondering how I would find out what my parking light output is on my car. I need to know if I should place the jumper on my alarm (viper 350+) to positive or negative and whether or not I need a relay. Thanks.

Alright cool. So no relay is needed. Perfect, that makes things a lot easier.

Oh, im definately using a backup battery. I dont see how using that would make me need a relay for my parking lights though, would it? It wouldnt change the polarity.

in the big scheme of things u do not want to have the parking lights flash while the small bb is activated thereby increasing the run time of the bb..

So you are saying, if someone were to unplug my battery and the alarm were running off the backup battery, it would drain quicker with the parking lights running strictly off the alarm?

Would it would be that significant of a loss. I mean would it cut the time from maybe 20 minutes on the battery to maybe 18? Or would it drop it by half? If its just a bit mroe drain, I would rather not deal with an extra relay.

The backup battery is not going to keep anything going for very long. The parking lights are not as important as a siren, so I would not hook those to the BUB if I were you.

Well honestly I only need the alarm to go off for a minute to get to my car. I only take it to work and home, and they cant take it at work, so I just need it to go off long enough at home to get outside. Also, im going to hook my parking lights up to my alarm, so I dont see a way I can have them hooked up to the alarm itself but not the backup battery.

post 2,5,6,7 already establish that its possible and u still have to ask if it is!? seriously?..
spst (think it was wrxstikiller Desmon where i learned it from )
85= 12V loop to 87 either or..
86= - alarm light wire
87= 12v loop to 85
30= parking light wire
and switch the jumper to negative

Skip the relay and, if you have not already, replace the back-up batt. with a bigger better one, [make sure it is fully charged before connecting] that way you can have both the lights and the siren(s) running long enough for you to get to the car.

It's a pretty good bet a crook is not going to hang around long by car that he can not disable the screaming siren and flashing lights of the alarm system he has triggered.
It's also a good bet a good BUB will outlast the most jacked up crack head or pro. 94
