Default Need some good advice, time to revamp the system

About 6 months ago, I pretty much finished up my system in my car. I wasn't looking for ground shaking bass just some nice clear audio. Basically this guy at tweeter sold me some MbQuart component speakers powered by a JL audio 300/2 amplifier. He said it would handle the power and sound great and all that other ****. Now needless to say, I think those 300$ speakers are about to get thrown out, and I want to wire all my speakers from the harness out of the back of my head.
The head unit is an Alpine CDA-9825, and I was wondering what speakers you people would reccomend for me. I want something that can get loud without distorting, and as for the bass I picked myself up an audiobahn 10" woofer for a whopping 55$. Should I keep my MbQuart components in the front, and my phoenix golds in the rear? Or should I just ditch all my speakers and start out fresh?

I dont want to spend like over 500$ on speakers, and the audiobahn **** is no good? I've heard good things about them.

my opinion is audiobahn is ****. so you want to spend 500 on the front speakers and use the same kicker amp right?? or does that 500 include a sub and amp for the sub?

No I want to try and get front and rear speakers for 500$, and I got 2 amps, the JL and the MTX thunder amp. So if I feel like putting a sub I got options as far as which amp to use.

dont worry about getting new rear speakers. get a good 3way component set for the fronts and your'e set. go front stage only.

Well what would you reccomend for the front set, I mean I already have a good set of components in the front as I stated before. Keep in mind I want something that will get pretty loud while maintaining clarity.

which MB's do you have. A set of properly installed components should get plenty loud off of that amp. Before you start changing equipment, you should probably try to optimize the install....

I forget exactly which model, where would I find a model number on the speaker? And I dunno how much better the sound can get, the speakers crackle and sound like hardcore ****.

there are nice component speakers i helped out with the install and everything was done correctly, no half *** shortcuts were taken. They have a cross over for the tweeters and everything. The problem is James likes his music insanly loud. I would say just get some $90 speakers from tweeter becasue my alpine speakers are older than dirt and still sound fine. Dont go blowing your money of audio when there is power and appearence to be had

What you need to do is look into a few options.

When you say the speakers break up this could be several things. How are the mids? MB mids are generally very quiet and not loud on midbass. For this I suggest getting some 4 ohm Vifa woofers or some adire audio koda's to replace the mb ones.

I would assume the MB tweets can handle around 100w (seeing as how you spend $300 for the set they should handle some decent power). This may solve your problems and help to get that sound you are looking for.

Also you need to make sure the gain on your amp isnt cranked all the way and that you are not clipping the amp and driving it to distort and sound like sh it.

Also, if you would like to switch comp sets I suggest running (if you must) a crappy rear set of speakers off deck power and then a nice comp set upfront and a sub in the rear.

Check in image chameleons, dynaudio's, adire koda's, bostons and cdt's for some nice comp sets. Forget anything you can buy locally. Until you have done your internet homework, this is the best place for you to obtain a really nice set of speakers without getting "had" like you did the the mb's (no offense).

as far as subs go, adire audio shiva 12 for $125. Doesnt get much better then that for cheap. I am sure if you bought a shiva and koda comps from adire (which is located here close to seattle) they would give ya a good deal. All can be had for under $500 as well.
