Need new Door Speakers for 01 Accord.
Okay, so my passenger door speaker went out and I'd thought I mine as well replace the stock mids with some new aftermarket ones.
If it makes any differences, stock tweeters, 3-way 6x9's, no subs.
Speaker size are 6.5".
My brother was telling me to get some JL or some kickers.
I saw some good reviews on INFINITY 63.9i 6.5" 3-WAY 450W KAPPA and was wondering if anyone had any feedbacks on them.
Or give me a good brand to go with. Just don't name anything too expensive that you wouldn't pay for.
Thanks.

Is the AMP really necessary to power the mids?
I'm just thinking about getting those speakers and buy my brothers 12"JL W7 and 1000/1 amp to power the sub.
I just need a little bit of an upgrade to the door speakers.
How would you rate the speakers without the amp?

if you're looking to just replace, the hertz dieci are great replacement speakers, do not require an amp, and sound amazing. does the car have a factory head unit or aftermarket??

That's gonna suck for me then haha, don't really have the money needed to buy the amp. Maybe i'll look at these in the future.
My headunit is an Alpine cde-9873, decent not all that great and not all that bad.
I'm still checking out Hertz and deciding what type I should go with.
Thanks.

i was asking about the head unit to find out if it had a built in highpass filter, or if you would want to install a "bass blocker" if you planned on running an amp. it'll make a speaker more efficient and sound a lot better

Oh I see, well i'm not really planning to install in any subs and amps yet because the girlfriend is always bitching about the bass of the 6x9's already. I'll install them later in the future and get a better head unit.

i recommend polk or infinity for speakers.
but if you buy a high end speaker you won't get the most out of it if you don't amplify it.

depends on your definition of "high end." i could sell someone a pair of $3500 components and that's high end, but a high end set of HAT speakers could only be $2000 and the HAT have won more awards. so...who is the "high end" speaker then?? as far as the price point the OP is talking about, EVERY manufacture has their had in the bucket. Hertz, Infinity, Polk, Pioneer, JBL, JL, Arc Audio, Kenwood, Sony, ID, Alpine...they are all there. my thing would be to eliminate every Mfgr that make head units. then eliminate those that have a duplicate. the really leaves you with JL, Hertz, Polk, Arc Audio, ID. THEN eliminate those that your local dealer cannot support. at that point, you'll have a great speaker and something that is local to you

What someone elso considers a great sounding speaker, another person may think it sounds like garbage. I personally run Focal speakers, tuned at a flat frequency response for realistic sound stage presence. Very rich and detailed sound from my speakers. I love them. But... the majority of my friends (many of whom also install professionaly, hate my system.)
My advice, go to your local stereo shops and demo speakers for yourself. Sure, it won't sound the exact same way in your car, but it will give you an idea. Take one of your favorite cds with you, so you can reference familiar music, and make a decision based on what YOU think is best...

Re: Need new Door Speakers for 01 Accord.
Thanks for the input guys.
Just received my pair of INFINITY 63.9i 3 days ago and installed it the next day.
In my opinion, these speakers are great even if they are not amplified.
These beats my stock ones by a long shot.
The bass is alot clearer and the sound is alot smoother.
The only downfall for these were that they wouldn't bolt on correctly to my door so I had to do some custom fabricating.
Overall, these were great replacements.
