Default Need help wireing xm ...

Hey guys I got a pioneer 900xm tuner and am running it with a DEH-7400 head unit, I got everthing done but the power wire for the 900 tuner, It says it needs continous power even when the car is off and that I cant run it though the fire wall to the battery. Where is a wire that I can use ? Could somebody give me a diagram

The car is a 93 civic HB DX thanks !

Examine something in your car that works even without the key in the ignition (cigarette lighter?). Then just run your power wire from that respective fuse at the fusebox to your unit.

Or, you could also tap into the constant power wire from your cd player's harness. (usually yellow with aftermarket decks)

good luck

Why can't you run it through the firewall? (just wondering)

Tapping the wire at the HU is your best bet.

Notice that the constant 12v wire on the tuner is yellow. It is also yellow on the head unit. Just wire those two together.

why would you run if through the firewall? it makes no sense, run it from your headunit and hide the tuner pack in the kick panel

on the front of the fuse box, above the fuses themselves you will see five recessed male spade plug conectors. the two on the left are continuous from the battery. get some insulated female spade connectors from Radio Shack and youre in business.

Also, with that Pioneer unit you will need to press the reset button every time you connect or re-connect it to the constant 12v. It doesn't say that anywhere in the installation manual but that seems to be the case for mine (it was pissing me off until I figured it out)
