Default Need switched power...

I'm hooking up a shift light to my car and I'm just wondering when you splice into a switched power source is it just like splicing any other wire? Can I use one of those wire splicing clips that just clip onto the other wire and you clamp it shut?

I've got the tach signal and ground, jusy need the power. Thanks.

Dont use those wire taps they tend to come loose, if u can solder the wire, if not splice it and use a pin to make a whole in the btw the wire strands and slip the new wire in and tap as usually. Will never come out this way.
