Need help with installing a under hood kill switch...
I want to install a under hood kill switch using a 30 amp relay but I'm not sure what's a good device to kill under the hood.
I already have a starter kill so I cant kill that and I was thinking maybe I could put it on the black/yel wire(main power wire) that runs to the distributor but I'm not sure if that would be a good idea.
Any ideas or input greatly appreciated..
Car is a eg Civic sedan.

You can not do a ignition kill or a starter kill on a honda. It will not prevent them from driving off with the car period! It is to easy to bypass those sort of kill switches. later tonite I will post op the pictures and a vid to show how to do the main relay right.

Great, now everyone knows how to get past my hood locks!
lol.
Well you're right but having a kill switch under the hood when you have hood locks is a lot more secure than having it in the cabin I would think...
Especially since drilling two big holes in a hood is going to make a lot of noise which a car thief can't afford to make.
I would still like to put a kill relay under the hood though so do you have any suggestions of what component under the hood I can kill with it?

It makes no diff. where you install the relay, the switch for the relay will still be under the dash, unless you plan on popping the hood each time you want to turn the switch on/off.
However, there are more then a few circuits you can "kill" with a relay under the hood, including the starter circuit, [redundant back-up] as you mentioned the power to distributor, power for the injectors, power or signal for/from engine sensors and so on, any circuit needed to keep engine running will work. 94
BTW, if installing a relay under the hood, make sure relay is weather resistant.

I may do the distributor kill with the black/yellow wire but do you know how many amps or watts that wire is?
Also if I decide to kill the fuel injectors power, how would I do that?

The best is to use one of those di-pole magnetic switches so you can hide it behind an interior panel and noone knows it's there.

there are better ones and you don't have to use the White magnet that is shown in that link.. you could have a magnet on a ring or your keychain or even just leave one stuck to some metal in the car...

Best way is to install a small, [easily hidden] 1A on/off switch on the black ground lead to the PGM-FI Main Relay, it will "kill" the injectors, fuel pump, power to ECU/ECM and a few engine sensors/solenoid valves, very effective. 94

Your going to use a relay so it does not matter, the relay will handle 20A-30A, [depending on relay].
