need help deciding on stuff
Hey, I was thinkin about getting one 12" sub and an amp cuz my bass doesnt hit hard enough. What do you think would be a good setup to start out with, that is also cheap? thanks.
if thats your car in your avatar...what kinda setup do you have now....
Here is what i would suggest:
1) 2 - 10" subs, probably mtx, or polks they are both awesome subs and still fairly cheap
2) get an amp that will give you more then enough power for your subs. I would suggest a 4 channel amp. This way you can power your other speakers as well, and your sound will not be just bass, it will have all the little happy notes you are supposed to hear
3) Or you can get 2 amps. One that has just enough power for the subs, then get an amp thats like 60x4. No its not alot of power, but if you put amp #2 on high pass and run it to your 4 other speakers it will allow you to hear the songs, and your subs can fill in the bass
thats my little speach on that...
My system in my 1999 Civic Coupe DX
3-8" JL 8W6's - in custom box
Rockford Fosgate Punch 60IX amp
Alpine 6x9 rears
Stock fronts
Alpine 35x4 amp - for 4 main speakers....this is more then enough bass. i think that 12's would be to much for any kind of civic
remember, subs fill in where the main speakers leave off. and if your bass is too loud, the song will loose all its luster and just sound like sh**

He sold me the speakers, amps, and an equilizer (that craped out) to me for about 250 dollars......god i love brother discounts
As for some other suggestions on equipment:
Subs-
Rockford Fosgate punch xlc (if you can still find them)
lower end JL audio stuff
MA audio subs (off of ubid.com, otherwise these are expensive. make sure they are the memphis audio ones)
Amps-
Clarion 4 channel amps- very nice
Planet audio- just got a 250 W 2 channel off of e-bay for 60 bucks
xtant (just kidding, these are expensive, but really really nice!)
soundstream reference series (discontinued) find them on e-bay, very nice amp for the price.
Those would be some to at least look around for.
My current setup in the process of installation.
250W planet audio amp plus a "10 Orion DVC sub in a box for my wheel well.
Installed- Pioneer premier dehp-720
factory speakers for now
1996 integra GSR

hey chris... i have a pair of 12s for sale... mtx thunder 5000s in a sealed black box... i was selling them for 150 but my buyer lost his job and so they're still mine...
Anything at your local Circuit City will work fine, if you don't want to spend a bunch of money. Fosgate are good for the money.
I'm waiting till this summer to do my system. W7's baby!!!!!!!
